The project brief for this roof terrace was to create a practical, functional outdoor living area and provide a space for the clients to work from home; a writer’s retreat in the heart of London’s fashionable Clerkenwell.  The solution was a multifunctional timber ‘box’ which would meet all of the client’s requirements: As well as providing a place to work the building incorporates extensive storage including the external niches for the client’s artwork and a projector for outside home cinema. Western Red Cedar was used throughout to create a uniform finish to all surfaces and unite the various elements of the design including the seating elements and planters.
